- இந்தியாவில் ஐந்து வயதிற்குட்பட்ட குழந்தைகளுக்கு போலியோ நோய் வராமல் தடுப்பதற்கான சொட்டு மருந்து அளிக்கும் திட்டம் அனைத்து மாநிலங்களிலும், இந்திய ஆட்சிப்பகுதிகளிலும் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
- இந்த இலவச சொட்டு மருந்து அளிக்கும் திட்டத்தை குறிப்பிட்ட நாளில் மாநில அரசுகள் அல்லது ஆட்சிப் பகுதி நிர்வாகங்கள் செயல்படுத்துகின்றன.
- மருத்துவமனைகள், ஆரம்ப சுகாதார நிலையங்கள், சத்துணவு மையங்கள், பள்ளிகள், பேருந்து நிலையம், தொடருந்து நிலையம், விமான நிலையம், வழிபாட்டுத் தலம், பொதுமக்கள் அதிகம் கூடும் முக்கிய இடங்கள் போன்ற பகுதிகளில் இதற்கான சிறப்பு மையங்கள் அமைக்கப்பட்டு குழந்தைகளுக்குப் போலியோ சொட்டு மருந்து அளிக்கும் திட்டம் நடைமுறைப்படுத்தப்படுகிறது.
- இதனைப் போலியோ சொட்டு மருந்து முகாம் என அழைக்கின்றனர். இந்தப் போலியோ சொட்டு மருந்து முகாம் தமிழ்நாட்டில் 40 ஆயிரத்து 399 மையங்களில், சுமார் 2 லட்சம் ஊழியர் மற்றும் தன்னார்வலர்கள் உதவியுடன் செயல்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. இந்த மையங்கள் மற்றும் பணியாளர்கள் எண்ணிக்கை ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மாறுபடக்கூடும்.
