• விதவைகள், கைவிடப்பட்ட மனைவிகள், பொருளாதாரத்தில் பின்தங்கிய பெண்கள் மற்றும் குழந்தை திருமணத்திலிருந்து மீட்கப்பட்ட சிறுமிகள், அவர்களது குடும்பத்தினரால் புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் சேவை இல்லங்களில் பராமரிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.
• தமிழகத்தில் சென்னை, சேலம், கடலூர், தஞ்சாவூர், திருநெல்வேலி, சிவகங்கை, மதுரை, கிருஷ்ணகிரி மற்றும் பெரம்பலூர் ஆகிய இடங்களில் தலா ஒன்று என ஒன்பது அரசு சேவை இல்லங்கள் செயல்பட்டு வருகின்றன.
• சேவை இல்லங்கள் பொருத்தமான தங்குமிடம், உணவு, சுகாதாரம் மற்றும் மருத்துவ வசதிகளை வழங்குகின்றன.
• கைதிகள் தங்கள் படிப்பை நிறுத்தியிருந்தால், அவர்கள் பள்ளிப்படிப்பைத் தொடரலாம்.
• இந்த சேவை இல்லங்களில் விதவைகள் மற்றும் பிரிந்து சென்ற மனைவிகள் தங்கள் குழந்தைகளை வசதியான சூழ்நிலையில் வளர்க்க அனுமதிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். ஒரு தாய் அதிகபட்சமாக மூன்று குழந்தைகளை வைத்துக்கொள்ளலாம்.
• பெண் குழந்தைகளுக்கு பன்னிரண்டாம் வகுப்பு வரை கல்வி அளிக்கப்படும் அதே வேளையில், ஆண் குழந்தைகளுக்கு ஐந்தாம் வகுப்பு வரை சேவை இல்லத்திலேயே கல்வி வசதி வழங்கப்படுகிறது.
• அவர்கள் பொருளாதார நிலைத்தன்மையைப் பெறுவதற்கு தொழில் திறன்களும் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன.
• வாழ்க்கைத் திறன்களான கணினிப் பயிற்சி, ஆங்கிலம் பேசுதல் மற்றும் உயர் படிப்புகளைத் தேர்ந்தெடுப்பதற்கான ஆலோசனைகள் மற்றும் எதிர்கால வாழ்க்கை வழிகாட்டுதல் ஆகியவை இந்த இல்லங்களில் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன.

ENGLISH

• Widows, deserted wives, economically backward women and girls rescued from child marriage who are neglected by their families are taken care of in the Service homes.
• Nine Government Service Homes, one each at Chennai, Salem, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Sivagangai, Madurai, Krishnagiri and Perambalur are functioning in Tamil Nadu.
• The Service Homes provide suitable accommodation, food, health and medical facilities.
• The inmates can also pursue their schooling if they had discontinued their studies.
• The widows and deserted wives are also permitted to bring up their children in a conducive atmosphere in these Service Homes. A maximum of three children can be kept by a mother.
• While the Girl children are provided education upto XII Standard, male children are provided with the educational facility in the Service Home itself upto V Standard.
• Vocational skills are also provided to enable them to have economic sustainability.
• Life skills viz., computer training, spoken english and counseling for selection of higher studies and future career guidance are also provided in these homes.
