• 1966-ம் ஆண்டுக் குறைந்த அளவு மின்சாரமே உற்பத்தி செய்யப்பட்டு விநியோகம் செய்யப்பட்டது. நகரங்களிலேயே பல வீடுகளுக்கு மின் இணைப்பு தரப்படவில்லை. 
• இந்நிலையில், திமுக ஆட்சிக்கு வந்த பிறகு பல்வேறு மின் திட்டங்களைச் செயல்படுத்தி மின் உற்பத்தியை பெருக்க நடவடிகை எடுக்கப்பட்டது. 
• இதன் காரணமாக நகர்ப்புரங்களில் உள்ள அனைத்து வீடுகளுக்கும் மின்சாரம் வழங்கப்பட்டதுடன், கிராமங்களில் உள்ள அனைத்து வீடுகளுக்கு மின் இணைப்பு கிடைக்கப்பெற வேண்டும் என்ற நோக்கத்துடனொரு குடிசைக்கு ஒரு விளக்கு என்ற திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டது. 
• இவற்றோடு, மலைமேல் இருக்கும் குக்கிராமங்களுக்கும் மின் இணைப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டது. இதனால், தமிழ்நாட்டில் மின் இணைப்புகள் இல்லாத வீடுகளே இல்லை எனும் சூழ்நிலை தி.மு.க ஆட்சியின்போது உருவானது.
• 1966-ம் ஆண்டு 7,128 மில்லியன் யூனிட்டாக இருந்த மின் உற்பத்தி 2010-ம் ஆண்டு 72,987 மில்லியன் யூனிட்டாக அதிகரித்ததால்தான், மக்கள் குடியிருக்கும் பகுதிகளுக்கும், தொழிற்சாலைகளுக்கும் அதிக அளவில் மின்சாரம் வழங்க முடிந்தது.

• In 1966, very little electricity was produced and distributed. Many houses in the cities are not provided with electricity. In this case, after the DMK came to power, steps were taken to increase power generation by implementing various power projects. 
• As a result, all houses in urban areas were provided with electricity and the scheme of one lamp per cottage was implemented with the aim of providing electricity connection to all houses in villages. 
• Along with these, the hilly hamlets were also provided with electricity connection. Due to this, a situation arose during the DMK regime where there were no houses without electricity connections in Tamil Nadu.
• Power generation increased from 7,128 million units in 1966 to 72,987 million units in 2010, which enabled the population and industries to be supplied with large amounts of electricity.
