• தொழிற்சாலை பெருக்கம், வணிகம், பொருளாதார முன்னேற்றம் மற்றும் வேலை வாய்ப்புகளை விரைந்து பெறுவதற்கு போக்குவரத்து சிறப்பாக இருப்பது முக்கியம். 
• இதை கருத்தில் கொண்டு, கிராமப்புறங்களை முக்கிய சாலைகளுடன் இணைக்கும் இணைப்புச் சாலை திட்டத்தை திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழக ஆட்சி 1976-க்கு முன்பே தீட்டி அதில் வேகமான வளர்ச்சி கண்டது என்பதை அனைவரும் அறிவர்.
• அண்ணா தலைமையில் முதன்முறை திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழக அரசு பொறுப்பேற்றுக்கொண்டபோது, நாட்டிலேயே முதன்முறையாகத் தி.மு.க ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில்தான் பேருந்துகள் நாட்டுடமையாக்கப்பட்டன.
• 1998 மார்ச் 26-ம் நாள் தமிழக வரலாற்றில் முதன்முறையாக நெடுஞ்சாலைத் துறைக்கென தனி அமைச்சகம் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டது. 
• தி.மு.க ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில்தான் தமிழகத்தில் அதிகப்படியான சாலைகளும், பாலங்களும் அமைக்கப்பட்டன. 2000-மாவது ஆண்டு முடியும்போது, தி.மு.க ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில் மட்டும் 345 பாலங்கள் கட்டிமுடிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தன.
• 1996 – 2001 தி.மு.க ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில் நான்கரை ஆண்டுகளில் மட்டும் 9,477 புதிய பேருந்துகள் வாங்கப்பட்டு, 1,468 புதிய வழித்தடங்கள் ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டன. 
• கிராமப்புற மக்கள் வேலைக்குச் சென்றுவர வசதியாக மினி பஸ் திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு, 2,334 மினி பஸ்கள் இயக்கப்பட்டன. மேலும் 2,112 மினி பஸ்களுக்கு அனுமதி வழங்கப்பட்டன.

• Better transport is important for accelerating industrial growth, business, economic growth and employment opportunities. With this in mind, it is well known that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam regime launched the link road scheme to connect rural areas with major roads before 1976 and saw rapid development in it.
• When the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government took charge for the first time under the leadership of Anna, buses were nationalized for the first time in the country during the DMK regime.
• On March 26, 1998, a separate Ministry for Highways was established for the first time in the history of Tamil Nadu. Most of the roads and bridges were built in Tamil Nadu during DMK regime. By the end of the year 2000, 345 bridges had been completed during DMK rule alone.
• 9,477 new buses were procured and 1,468 new routes were established during the DMK regime of 1996 – 2001 in four and a half years alone. A mini bus scheme was implemented to facilitate the commuting of rural people to work and 2,334 mini buses were operated. Also 2,112 mini buses were sanctioned.
