உலகளாவிய நிறுவனங்களுக்கு இணையான திறன் மற்றும் நிபுணத்துவத்தை மேம்படுத்தவும், அணை பாதுகாப்பில் 'மேக் இன் இந்தியா' அதிகாரம் பெறவும், தேசிய நிறுவனங்களை வலுப்படுத்துவதற்கான மத்திய அரசின் ஒட்டுமொத்த முயற்சியின் ஒரு பகுதியாக, மத்திய நீர்வள ஆணையம், நீர்வளம், நதிகள் மேம்பாடு மற்றும் கங்கை தூய்மைப்படுத்துதல் துறை, நீர்வள அமைச்சகம், பெங்களூரில் உள்ள இந்திய அறிவியல் கழகத்துடன் அணைகளுக்கான சர்வதேச சிறப்பு மையத்தை நிறுவுவதற்கான புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தத்தில்
கையெழுத்திட்டுள்ளது.

அணைகள் புனரமைப்பு மற்றும் மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டத்தின் இரண்டு, மூன்றாம் கட்டத்தின் கீழ், இப்பணிகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுகின்றன. இந்தப் புரிந்துணர்வு ஒப்பந்தம் கையெழுத்தான நாளிலிருந்து 10 ஆண்டுகள் அல்லது அணைகள் புனரமைப்பு மற்றும் மேம்பாட்டுத் திட்டத்தின் இரண்டாம் கட்டம் மற்றும் மூன்றாம் கட்டங்களின் காலம் வரை, இதில் எது முன்கூட்டியே நிறைவடைகிறதோ அதுவரை செல்லுபடியாகும்.

இந்தியா மற்றும் வெளிநாட்டு அணை உரிமையாளர்களுக்கு விசாரணைகள், வடிவமைப்பு, ஆராய்ச்சி, கண்டுபிடிப்புகள், தொழில்நுட்ப ஆதரவு ஆகிய சேவைகளில் சிறப்பு தொழில்நுட்ப ஆதரவை வழங்குவதற்காக நீர்வள அமைச்சகத்தின் தொழில்நுட்பப் பிரிவாக அணைகளுக்கான சர்வதேச சிறப்பு மையம் செயல்படும். 

இந்த மையம் அணை பாதுகாப்பு குறித்து அமைச்சகத்திற்கு ஆதரவளிக்கவும், அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சி மூலம் அணை பாதுகாப்பில் எதிர்கொள்ளும் பல்வேறு வளர்ந்து வரும் சவால்களுக்கு தீர்வுகளை வழங்கவும் பணியாற்றும்.

ENGLISH

As part of the central government's overall effort to strengthen national institutions to develop capacity and expertise at par with global firms and empower 'Make in India' in dam safety, the Central Water Commission, Department of Water Resources, Rivers Development and Ganges Cleanup, Ministry of Water Resources, along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for Dams Signed MoU for establishment of International Center of Excellence.

These works are being carried out under Phase II and III of the Dams Reconstruction and Development Programme. This MoU shall be valid for a period of 10 years from the date of signing or for the duration of Phase II and Phase III of the Dams Reconstruction and Development Project, whichever is earlier.

The International Center of Excellence for Dams will function as the technical arm of the Ministry of Water Resources to provide specialist technical support in the areas of enquiries, design, research, innovation and technical support services to Indian and foreign dam owners.

The center will work to support the ministry on dam safety and provide solutions to various emerging challenges faced in dam safety through scientific research.
