BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2025 / மார்பக புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு மாதம் 2025: மார்பக புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு மாதம் என்பது மார்பக புற்றுநோயின் விழிப்புணர்வுக்கான உலகளாவிய சுகாதார நிகழ்வு ஆகும், இது கடந்த 37 ஆண்டுகளாக ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் அக்டோபர் மாதம் முழுவதும் நினைவுகூரப்படுகிறது.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2025 / மார்பக புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு மாதம் 2025: 100,000 பெண்களுக்கு சுமார் 25.8 (வயது சரிப்படுத்தப்பட்ட விகிதம்) மற்றும் இறப்பு விகிதம் 100,000 பெண்களுக்கு 12.7, மார்பக புற்றுநோய் இப்போது இந்திய பெண்களில் முன்னணி புற்றுநோயாக உள்ளது. 2020 ஆம் ஆண்டில் 2.3 மில்லியன் புதிய வழக்குகள் (அனைத்து புற்றுநோய்களில் 11.7%) எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது. 

இது உலகளாவிய புற்றுநோய் நிகழ்வுகளுக்கு முக்கிய காரணமாகும். 1965 மற்றும் 1985 க்கு இடையில் இந்தியாவில் மார்பக புற்றுநோயின் தாக்கம் கிட்டத்தட்ட 50% அதிகரித்துள்ளது.

மார்பக புற்றுநோயால் ஏற்படும் இறப்பு எண்ணிக்கையைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள மேலே உள்ள புள்ளிவிவரங்கள் போதுமானவை. மார்பக புற்றுநோயின் தாக்கம் அதிகரித்து வரும் சிக்கலான விகிதத்தில், விரைவில் அல்லது பின்னர் அது யாருடைய வாழ்க்கையிலும் ஒரு பகுதியாக மாறும் என்பதில் சந்தேகமில்லை.

1985 அக்டோபர் முதல், தேசிய மார்பக புற்றுநோய் அறக்கட்டளையால் மார்பக புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு மாதம் நடத்தப்படுகிறது. மார்பகப் புற்றுநோய்க்கு ஆதரவளிக்கும் நிறுவனங்கள் முதல் உள்ளூர் சமூக அமைப்புகள் வரை பல்வேறு சுகாதார மற்றும் சுகாதாரம் அல்லாத குழுக்கள் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் கைகோர்த்து, விழிப்புணர்வை பரப்புவதன் மூலம், ஸ்கிரீனிங் மற்றும் நோயைத் தடுப்பதன் மூலம் மார்பக புற்றுநோயின் நிகழ்வைக் குறைக்கின்றன. அப்போதிருந்து, அக்டோபர் மாதம் இளஞ்சிவப்பு மாதம் என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

மார்பகப் புற்றுநோய் சிகிச்சைக்கான அணுகலில் பாலினம் மற்றும் சமூகப் பொருளாதார ஏற்றத்தாழ்வுகளை நிவர்த்தி செய்யும் அதே வேளையில், நோயாளி வழிசெலுத்தல் அமைப்புகள் மூலம் மருத்துவ, உணர்ச்சி, உளவியல் மற்றும் சமூக ஆதரவு உள்ளிட்ட நோயாளிகளை மையமாகக் கொண்ட கவனிப்பின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை இந்தத் தீம் எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2025: Breast cancer awareness month is a global healthcare event for the awareness of breast cancer, which is reminisced for the entire month of October every year for the past 37 years.

Various organizations in both global and local come together during this month to promote awareness campaigns and activities which recognise the necessity of the early diagnosis of breast cancer, its treatment and preventive tips to avoid the ailment.

Importance of Breast cancer awareness month (Pink Month)

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2025: About 25.8 per 100,000 women (age adjusted rate) and mortality rates of 12.7 per 100,000 women, breast cancer is now the leading cancer in Indian women. 

With an expected 2.3 million new cases in 2020 (11.7% of all cancer cases), it is the leading cause of global cancer incidence. Between 1965 and 1985 there was a nearly a 50% increase of breast cancer incidence in India.

The above figures are enough to understand the death toll of breast cancer. It would be no doubt that at complex rate at which the incidence of breast cancer is increasing, that sooner or later it could become a part of anyone's life.

Since 1985 October, the Breast Cancer Awareness Month was being conducted by National Breast Cancer Foundation. Various healthcare and non-healthcare groups ranging from breast cancer advocacy organizations to local community organizations have joined hands every year just to reduce the incidence of breast cancer by spreading awareness, through promotion of screening and prevention of the disease. Since then, the month of October is also called the pink month.

The Pink Ribbon symbolises bravery in the face of breast cancer, optimism for the future, and the altruism of individuals as well as the organisations who against all odds fight the disease. 

The campaigns of Pink Ribbon were victorious in appealing to the sympathetic side of the public which resulted in enormous breast cancer awareness among the masses and the common population.
