GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2024 / உலக பட்டினிக் குறியீடு 2024: உலக நாடுகளில் பசியின் அளவை அளவிடுவதற்கும் கண்காணிப்பதற்குமான கருவியாக ஊட்டச்சத்து குறைபாடு, குழந்தை இறப்பு ஆகியவற்றின் அடிப்படையிலான சா்வதேச பட்டினி குறியீடு அறியப்படுகிறது.
நிகழாண்டு சா்வதேச பட்டினி குறியீட்டின் 19-ஆவது பதிப்பு அயா்லாந்து நாட்டைச் சோ்ந்த மனிதநேய அமைப்பான 'கன்சா்ன் ஓல்டுவைட்' மற்றும் ஜொமனி நிறுவனமான 'வெல்ட் ஹங்கா்லைப்' ஆகிய அமைப்புகளால் இந்த வாரம் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

ஐந்து வயதுக்குள்பட்ட குழந்தைகளில் 35.5 சதவீதம் போ் வளா்ச்சி குன்றியவா்களாகவும் இவா்களில் 18.7 சதவீதத்தினா் எடை குறைந்தவா்களாகவும் உள்ளனா். மேலும் 2.9 சதவீத குழந்தைகள் ஐந்து வயது நிறைவடைவதற்கு முன்பே இறக்கின்றனா்.
குறியீட்டின் கணக்கீட்டில் போதுமான கலோரி உட்கொள்ளாத மக்கள்தொகையின் எண்ணிக்கையை ஊட்டச்சத்து குறைபாடு உள்ளவா்களாகவும் ஐந்து வயதுக்குள்பட்ட குழந்தைகளில் ஊட்டச்சத்து குறைபாடு காரணமாக வயதுக்கு குறைந்த உயரம் கொண்ட குழந்தைகளை வளா்ச்சிக் குன்றியவா்களாகவும் வரையறுக்கப்பட்டனா்.

GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2024 / உலக பட்டினிக் குறியீடு 2024: உலக அளவில், ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் சுமாா் 73.3 கோடி பேருக்கு போதுமான அளவு உணவு கிடைக்காததால் பட்டினியை எதிா்கொள்கின்றனா். அதேநேரத்தில் சுமாா் 280 கோடி மக்களால் ஆரோக்கியமான உணவை உட்கொள்ள முடியவில்லை.

GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2024: Global Hunger Index based on malnutrition and child mortality is known as a tool to measure and monitor the level of hunger in countries around the world.
The 19th edition of this year's Global Hunger Index was released this week by Irish-based humanitarian organization Kansan Oldwhite and German company WeltHunglife.
Intensive analysis
GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2024: In this, India has got 105th position with 27.3 points among 127 countries based on the hunger index of 136 countries of the world.
With this, India has also entered the category of 'critical analysis' which includes 42 countries namely Pakistan and Afghanistan. Whereas, our neighboring countries Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka are listed under the 'medium' category.
Computational elements
GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2024: India's points are based on the values of four components. 13.7 percent of the country's population is malnourished. 35.5 percent of children under five years of age are stunted and 18.7 percent of them are underweight. Another 2.9 percent of children die before the age of five.
In the calculation of the index, the population with insufficient calorie intake was defined as malnourished and under-five children with stunted height due to malnutrition.
Similarly, those who were not weight-for-height were classified as underweight and children who died from a dangerous combination of inadequate nutrition and unsanitary conditions were classified as dead.
At the top is China and 21 other countries
GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2024: Points were calculated for each country to reflect the severity of hunger based on these four components. where zero is the best score (no hunger) and 100 is the worst.
22 countries including China, Russia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates share the top spot in the index with a score of less than 5. Although the international community continues to emphasize the importance of the right to food, it is reported to be blatantly ignored in many parts of the world.

73 crore people are starving
GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2024: Globally, around 73.3 crore people face hunger every day because they do not have enough food. At the same time, about 280 crore people could not consume healthy food.
In some African countries, hunger has reached dangerous levels. The wars in Gaza and Sudan led to these food crises. Civil wars in countries including Congo, Haiti, Mali and Syria have also created food crises.
