NOBEL PRIZE FOR MEDICINE OR PHYSIOLOGY 2024 / 2024ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான மருத்துவம் அல்லது உடலியலுக்கான நோபல் பரிசு 2024: உலகின் உயரிய விருதுகளில் ஒன்றான நோபல் பரிசு ஆண்டுதோறும் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. டைனமைட் வெடிபொருளை கண்டுபிடித்தவரும் பிரபல தொழிலதிபருமான ஆல்பிரெட் நோபல் இந்த பரிசை உருவாக்கியவர் ஆவார்.

அதன்படி 1901ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் இந்த நோபல் பரிசானது மருத்துவம், இயற்பியல், வேதியல், இலக்கியம், பொருளாதாரம், அமைதி ஆகிய துறைகளில் சிறந்து விளங்கும் நபர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.

அந்தவகையில், 2024ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான முதல் நோபல் பரிசு இன்று மருத்துவத்துறைக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. அந்தவகையில் இந்தாண்டு மருத்துவத்திற்கான நோபல் பரிசு அமெரிக்காவைச் சேர்ந்த விக்டர் ஆம்ப்ரோஸ், கேரி ருக்குன் ஆகியோருக்கு பகிர்ந்து வழங்கப்படுகிறது.

மைக்ரோ RNA கண்டுபிடிப்பிற்காக இந்த நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பிந்தைய டிரான்ஸ்கிரிப்ஷனல் ஒழுங்குமுறையில் மைக்ரோ RNA பங்கை தெளிவுபடுத்துதல், உயிரினங்கள் எவ்வாறு உருவாகி செயல்படுகின்றன என்பதை விளக்குவதற்கு இவர்களின் கண்டுபிடிப்பு முக்கிய பங்களிப்பை தருகின்றன. 

இந்த சாதனைக்காக இருவருக்கும் நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்படுகிறது. இந்த நோபல் பரிசு வெற்றியாளர்களுக்கு 11 மில்லியன் ஸ்வீடிஷ் கிரவுன்கள் ( அதாவது $1.1 மில்லியன்) பரிசுதொகையாக வழங்கப்படவுள்ளது.

1. விக்டர் அம்புரோஸ்

NOBEL PRIZE FOR MEDICINE OR PHYSIOLOGY 2024 / 2024ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான மருத்துவம் அல்லது உடலியலுக்கான நோபல் பரிசு 2024: விக்டர் அம்புரோஸ் 1953 ஆம் ஆண்டு அமெரிக்காவின் நியூ ஹாம்ப்ஷயரில் உள்ள ஹனோவரில் பிறந்தவர். அவர் 1979 ஆம் ஆண்டு அங்குள்ள Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் முனைவர் பட்டம் பெற்றார். 

1985 வரை அங்கு முதுகலை ஆராய்ச்சியாளராகத் தொடர்ந்து பணியாற்றிய அவர் அதன்பின்பு அதே ஆண்டில் ஹார்வர்ட் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் முதன்மை ஆய்வாளராக பொறுப்பேற்றார்.

2. கேரி ருவ்குன்

NOBEL PRIZE FOR MEDICINE OR PHYSIOLOGY 2024 / 2024ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான மருத்துவம் அல்லது உடலியலுக்கான நோபல் பரிசு 2024: அதேபோல் கேரி ருவ்குன் 1952 ஆம் ஆண்டு அமெரிக்காவின் கலிபோர்னியாவில் உள்ள பெர்க்லி நகரில் பிறந்தார். அவர் 1982 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஹார்வர்ட் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் முனைவர் பட்டம் பெற்றார். 

அதைத் தொடர்ந்து 1982 முதல் 1985 வரை எம்ஐடியில் முதுகலை முனைவர் பட்டம் பெற்றார். 1985 ஆம் ஆண்டு அவர் மாசசூசெட்ஸ் பொது மருத்துவமனை மற்றும் ஹார்வர்ட் மருத்துவப் பள்ளியில் முதன்மை ஆய்வாளராக பொறுப்பேற்றார். தற்போது அங்கு அவர் இப்போது மரபியல் பேராசிரியராக உள்ளார்.

Accordingly, the first Nobel Prize for the year 2024 has been announced today for the field of medicine. In this way, the Nobel Prize for Medicine this year is shared between Victor Ambrose and Gary Rukun from America.

The Nobel Prize was awarded for the discovery of microRNA. Elucidating the role of microRNAs in post-transcriptional regulation, their findings make important contributions to explaining how organisms evolve and function. Both are awarded the Nobel Prize for this achievement. 11 million Swedish crowns (ie $1.1 million) will be awarded to the Nobel Prize winners.

Gene regulation

NOBEL PRIZE FOR MEDICINE OR PHYSIOLOGY 2024: All the cells in our body have the same genes but different cells. Different types of cells perform different functions, such as muscle and nerve cells. This is possible due to genetic regulation. 

This allows cells to turn on only the genes they need. Ambrose and Ruvkun's discovery of microRNAs revealed a new way in which this regulation occurs. "Their discovery is essential to understanding how life, including humans, develops and functions," the Nobel Assembly said.

Who are they?

1. Victor Ambrose

NOBEL PRIZE FOR MEDICINE OR PHYSIOLOGY 2024: Victor Ambrose was born in 1953 in Hanover, New Hampshire, USA. He received his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1979. He continued to work there as a post-doctoral researcher until 1985, and then took over as principal investigator at Harvard University in the same year. 

From 1992 to 2007, Victor Ambrose served as a professor at Dartmouth Medical School. He is currently a professor of natural sciences at the Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester.

2. Gary Ruvkun

NOBEL PRIZE FOR MEDICINE OR PHYSIOLOGY 2024: Similarly, Gary Ruvkun was born in 1952 in Berkeley, California, USA. He received his PhD from Harvard University in 1982. He then completed his postdoctoral work at MIT from 1982 to 1985. 

In 1985 he became Principal Investigator at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He is currently Professor of Genetics there.
