BOOKER PRIZE 2024 / புக்கர் பரிசு 2024: பிரிட்டீஷ் எழுத்தாளர் சமந்தா ஹார்வி (49) எழுதிய 'ஆர்பிடல்' என்னும் விண்வெளி தொடர்பான நாவலுக்கு, 2024க்கான புக்கர் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டது.

லண்டனில் உள்ள ஓல்டு பில்லிங்ஸ்கேட்டில் நேற்று இரவு நடந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில், புக்கர் பரிசு வென்ற சமந்தா ஹார்விக்கு ரூ.54 லட்சம் (64,000 அமெரிக்க டாலர்) பரிசாக வழங்கப்பட்டது. இதற்கு முன்னர் புக்கர் பரிசு வென்றவர்களில், மார்கரெட் அட்வுட், சல்மான் ருஷ்டி மற்றும் யான் மார்டெல் ஆகியோர் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கவர்கள்.

பரிசு வழங்கிய நடுவர் எட்மண்ட் டி வால் கூறுகையில், சமந்தா ஹார்வி, இந்த நாவலை கோவிட் -19 பாதிப்பால் உலகமே பாதிக்கப்பட்டு லாக்டவுன் ஆன போது, சர்வதேச விண்வெளி நிலையத்தில் ஒரு நாள் பற்றிய கதையாக எழுதியுள்ளார். கடந்த 2020ல் எழுத தொடங்கி, இது அவர் எழுதிய 5வது நாவல்.

BOOKER PRIZE 2024: British writer Samantha Harvey (49) has been awarded the Booker Prize for 2024 for her space-related novel 'Orbital'. Booker Prize winner Samantha Harvey was awarded Rs 54 lakh (US$64,000) at an event held last night at Old Billingsgate in London. Previous Booker Prize winners include Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie and Yann Martel.

Judge Edmond de Waal said that Samantha Harvey has written this novel as a story about a day on the International Space Station when the world is affected by the impact of Covid-19. This is the 5th novel she has written since last 2020.
