In this, the southern states have occupied the top 05 positions. West Bengal is at the bottom of the list, according to the report released today. The performance of the states on the four pillars of justice, namely police, prisons, judiciary and legal aid, was considered for the ranking.

According to the 04th report of the Department of Justice 2025, the southern states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have occupied the top 05 positions. West Bengal has occupied the last position in this.

According to the report, the states of Rajasthan, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh have made progress in the functioning of the judiciary. In addition, the states of Jharkhand and Odisha have also made progress in the functioning of the prison sector.

Moreover, the state of Haryana has made progress in the provision of legal aid. Sikkim has performed best among the seven small states in policing and justice delivery, while Goa has been noted to be lagging behind.
